Dockside Restaurant and Motel located at the Manset Town Pier in Southwest Harbor boasts some of the most spectacular views of water & mountains on Mount Desert Island. The building underwent an extensive renovation in 2004 with an entirely new kitchen, new bar, and restrooms, updated dining room, and newly remodeled guest rooms and new outdoor patio furniture. The restaurant accommodates 70 inside, 24 outside and 12 seats at the bar. The grounds floor also has a separate office space and plenty of storage with a washer and dryer for motel laundry. Above the restaurant are 6 spacious guest rooms all with private baths and 3 with kitchenettes. All of the rooms have an amazing view of this beautiful working harbor; that practically sell themselves with repeat guests returning year after year. The building has town water & sewer, cable television, low taxes and parking for 10 cars for motel guests and free parking at the town pier across from the restaurant.
The building is located on Shore Rd. one of the most desirable neighborhoods in Southwest Harbor. The street is lined with million dollars homes overlooking the harbor; the restaurant is located just up the road from the Headquarters of The Hinckley Company makers of some of the most magnificent yachts in the world. On any given day you’ll see as many as 40 or more Hinckley’s luxury sail or picnic boats running up & down the harbor.
The building has been home to 3 very successful restaurants in the past 15 years and was described in a recent Down East Magazine article as: A funky but prime waterfront spot in Southwest Harbor’s Manset village with views of Somes Sound embraced by the mountains of Acadia National Park.
The restaurant has a legion of faithful clients that arrive in many different ways. Some guests arrive by boat and tie up at the town pier 150 feet away, some drive and park free at the large lot across the road, The Island Explorer a free shuttle bus has a stop directly in front of the restaurant bringing customers from all over of the island right to our door. While many of the locals and summer residents of Manset simply walk to the quaint oceanfront road from their homes.
